I was excited and nervous at the same time when I started my journey from Turkey to Italy to join Extramus for my erasmus plus internship within the IT department.
My journey at Extramus begins with the culmination of my second year of study in Turkey, marked by a final exam. With the test behind me, I went to my dormitory, take my belongings, which I had already packed before. Ready to go for my summer jobs abroad, destination: Italy.
My first stop was Istanbul, where I spent the night at a friend’s house. The next morning, I took a plane to Rome. For the first time going abroad alone, the day of my departure to Italy, was a sad moment, as tears threatened to well up, we all know traveling abroad can be the scariest, but most liberating, life changing experience of a life.
From Rome, I took a train to Naples. I made a mistake when I thought the bus station and train station were in the same place. With determination coursing through my veins I checked the bus station on Google Map, I hastily acquired a metro ticket and sprinted, I just had 30 minutes to arrive to my bus. Finally, I managed to find the bus station with just enough time to catch my bus.
Next on my itinerary was Bivio Cantinella, where Francesco, the head manager of Extramus with a big smile, was waiting to pick me up and take me to my new home. I was exhausted by the time I got there, but I was also excited to start my erasmus plus internship.
The next day, I met my team and started working on my project. I was lucky to start my internship just two days before Carmen left, because she was able to help me get settled in and learn the ropes.
I’ve already made some great friends here, including Weronika, Ania, Eren, Mustafa, and Maja. We’ve been exploring the surrounding area, and we’ve had some amazing experiences.
We recently visited Sicily, where we visited Palermo, a beautiful city with a rich history. We also ate some delicious traditional desserts, like cannoli, gelato, and cassata. We even visited one of the best cathedrals and theaters in Italy.
Before we left Sicily, we visited Cefalu, a popular tourist destination with a beautiful beach and a stunning cathedral. The cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it was an incredible experience to be there alone for a few minutes before it opened to the public.
And so, my journey in Europe continues to unfold, each chapter more enchanting than the last. As the sun sets on each day, I eagerly await the dawn of new adventures, new experiences, new friendships, and a tapestry of experiences that will forever adorn the canvas of my memories.
